LAKELAND, Florida - The three fastest 10K times in Embry-Riddle men's cross country program history were ran on Saturday morning at the 2022 NCAA II South Region Championship meet at Holloway Park, and the Eagles punched their ticket to the NCAA II National Championship thanks to a third-place upset finish. Embry-Riddle automatically qualifies for the national meet thanks to a top-three showing, and will be making its third-ever appearance at the NCAA II National Championship.

Embry-Riddle - 85 points [6-14-16-24-25 (30) (48)]
The Eagles ran a 2:38.15 team title, posting just a 0:58.3 spread, the second-slimmest spread of the 18-team field. No. 6 Lee (41) won the meet, with No. 10 Mississippi College (68) finishing as the meet runner-up. The Blue and Gold, ranked No. 27 in the most recent USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll, beat out No. 23 Alabama-Huntsville, 85 to 97 to claim the automatic bid to nationals.

Midway through the race the Eagles were on the outside looking in, running fourth behind UAH, but over the final 5K meters, the Eagles, particularly Ryan Szklany and Andrew Stowe, were able to move up past a few Charger runners to secure the team's trip to Seattle.

ERAU was easily the top finishing team from the Sunshine State Conference, as Saint Leo (165), Florida Southern (171), and Tampa (206) went 5-6-7 in the team standings.

The Eagles
Paul Kraemer continued to etch his name at the top of the Embry-Riddle record books, breaking the program's 10K record with a 31:01.0, placing seventh individually in the race. The sophomore from Toulouse, France now owns both the 8K and 10K program records. Kraemer wasn't the only Eagle to break the previous 10K mark as both Brendon Shea (31:36.2) and Szklany (31:38.8) did so also, finishing in 15th and 17th, respectively.

Stowe ran to a 25th place finish in 31:59.0, joining Kraemer, Shea and Szklany on the All-Region Team (top 25 individual finishers). Tanner Rosolino ran right behind Stowe in 26th, posting a time of 31:59.3 and rounding out the Eagle scorers.

Tristan McWilliam (32:18.2) and Tayan Benson (33:02.2) both ran their first collegiate 10K races on Saturday, finishing 31st and 50th, respectively.
