DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - The Sunshine State Conference Men's Cross Country Championship officially runs through Daytona. The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team claimed their third consecutive and fourth overall SSC title on Saturday morning at the 2022 SSC Cross Country Championships, running on their home course. The title marked ERAU's 14th conference crown in program history. The Blue and Gold is now tied for the third-most men's cross country championships in SSC history with four, and have only been eligible for six seasons.
Paul Kraemer was voted as the league's Runner of the Year after a dominant regular season. It is the 10th Conference Runner of the Year honor in program history, and Kraemer is the sixth Eagle to claim that title.
Head Coach
Mike Rosolino picked up his 55th career Coach of the Year honor after being voted the SSC Coach of the Year for the fourth time. It is his 14th men's cross country Coach of the Year accolade, and his 29th overall cross country Coach of the Year accolade.
Embry-Riddle - 24 points [2-3-4-5-10 (21) (30)]
The Eagles ran a 2:12.01 total time, nearly two full minutes better than Saint Leo who finished second. ERAU's 24 points are the lowest for the program in a championship meet since 2010, and the lowest in their SSC era. Just 37 seconds separated the Eagles' first and fifth finishers on Saturday.
The Eagles
Kraemer (26:03.69) finished eight seconds back of the individual champion Arthur Crosson (Saint Leo), and he was the first of four consecutive Eagles to cross the finish line as ERAU went 2-3-4-5.
Brendon Shea (26:20.85) and
Ryan Szklany (26:22.19) crossed the finish line together, followed closely by
Tanner Rosolino (26:32.81).
Andrew Stowe ran a 26:40.85, placing 10th overall, and was the championship's top freshman finisher, earning All-Championship Team honors along with Kraemer, Shea, Szklany, and Rosolino, the most (5) Eagles to do so in school history. Szklany garnered his fifth All-Championship Team honor, Kraemer his third, Shea his second, and Rosolino and Stowe their first each.
