DESTIN, Fla. - A strong opening round by Loa Johannsson has the sophomore in a tie for sixth and Embry-Riddle women's golf in eight with a 312 to start the Golfweek D2 Collegiate Invite. Play is being held at the par 71, 5,802-yard course at the Raven Golf Club. The field of 11 teams includes No. 18 Flagler and RV Texas A&M International.

Consistent play had Johannsson (74) all the way up into a tie for second as the Championsgate, Florida native parred each of the first 12 holes. She was among the best in the field on par-4 holes, tying for the fourth lowest average strokes on such holes in the 59-player field. Additionally, her 14 total pars tied for the most by an individual in the tournament.

After a difficult start to her first round as an Eagle, Mackenzie McCormack shot one under par over the final 12 holes to shoot a 76 and slot in tied for 17th on the leaderboard. The graduate transfer recorded a team-high three birdies, tied for the fourth most in the field.

Millie Lawson started strong with a birdie on the opening hole and finished the round with 80 strokes.

Like McCormack, Jasmine Yang also competed in her first competition as an Eagle, shooting an 82 with Marybeth McGuire coming in behind the sophomore with an 85.

Gabby Roth (83) and Stevie Albright (84) both competed as individuals. Also of note, it is Roth's first collegiate tournament for the Blue and Gold.

Flagler (289) holds a commanding eight stroke lead over Texas A&M International (297) with Montevallo (302), West Georgia (305) and Texas A&M - Kingsville (306) rounding out the top five.

The Saints' Stella Jelinek is the top individual after firing a two-under par 69.

For Monday's round two, Roth and Albright will tee off at 7:39 and 7:48 a.m. while the five Eagles competing as a team will begin between 8:15 a.m. and 8:51 a.m. with Columbus State and Palm Beach Atlantic.
