DADE CITY, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team is 10th on the leaderboard with 626 strokes (309-317) after day one of the Saint Leo Invitational. The field of 13 teams is loaded with talent. Six programs are ranked in the most recent poll (No. 2 Lynn, No. 3 Nova Southeastern, No. 7 Anderson, No. 9 Tampa, No. 15 Barry, and No. 22 Florida Southern) with two receiving votes (Saint Leo and Eckerd). Also included is the NAIA's fifth-ranked team in SCAD Savannah. Play is being held at the par-72, 6,112-yard course at the Lake Jovita Country Club.

Marybeth McGuire (77-76) was the top Eagle after day one. The senior closed round one strong with two birdies over the last three holes and carried that momentum into round two by birdying the first two holes. McGuire was bogey free over her final eight holes to end with a 153. Her seven sub-par scores on the day were tied for the fifth most in the 71-player field. The Lynn Haven, Florida native thrived on par-3s, averaging 2.88 strokes on such holes.

Millie Lawson hovered around the top 20 in round one with a 75. An eagle on the par-5 hole No. 2 highlighted her second-round 79 for 154 total strokes. The grad student found success on par-5s with a 4.88 stroke average.

Two birdies in the opening four holes had Loa Johannsson (80-77=157) out to a fast start. The sophomore also ended the day strong with ERAU's second eagle, the most by any program in the tournament, on the same hole as Lawson.

Mackenzie McCormack (77-85=162) racked up three birdies in the first round of play. Jasmine Yang (82-89=171) also grabbed a birdie in round one.

Competing as an individual, Stevie Albright shot a personal-best 74 in round one, closing with six straight pars. A second-round 81 gave the sophomore 155 shots on the day. Grayson Kindig (84-85=169) also competed as an individual in her first tournament of the season for the Blue and Gold.
