DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 18th-ranked Embry-Riddle women's tennis team picked up its second home win of the year with a 7-0 defeat of Salem, Wednesday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Eagles are now 3-4, while the Tigers fall to 3-3. Wednesday's win also marked the 300th victory of Dave Paschal's women's tennis coaching career.
It took less than 30 minutes for
Rachel Swan and
Maja Issler to notch the first win of the day. Teaming up for the first time, the ERAU duo dispatched Melanie Coric and Kylie Diaz 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. Playing on court one,
Sabrina Ehrenfort and
Carla Cabero del Hierro assured the Eagles of the doubles point with their 6-3 win over Ana Kunic and Daria Korsakova and
Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and
Kaylee Kirivong held off Lina Ziana and Anastasia Gerter 7-5 to complete the doubles sweep.
The match at No. 3 singles saw Wira Hadipoernomo make quick work of Korsakova, 6-0, 6-1. Cabero del Hierro also surrendered just one game in her win (6-1, 6-0) over Gerter at No. 2, and the clinching point came from Issler as she bested Kunic 6-3, 6-1 at the top spot.
The last three matches saw the Eagles drop just four games as Ehrenfort topped Ziani 6-2, 6-1, Tripaldelli blanked Diaz 6-0, 6-0 and
Rachel Swan bested Coric 6-0, 6-1.
The Eagles are back on the courts on Saturday to face NAIA's top-ranked team in Keiser at 1 p.m.
