ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Fla. - A strong showing during the third and final round of the St. Simons Intercollegiate vaulted Embry-Riddle women's golf up into a tie for fifth with RV Tusculum at 940 strokes. The Eagles posted the third-lowest round on the day in the 14-team competition, using 306 strokes to complete the final 18 holes. Play was held at the par-72, 5,801-yard King and Prince Golf Club.

"Today was more like us", said Head Coach Maria Lopez. "I'm super proud of their grit and resilience to jump up a few spots on the leaderboard. They showed their Eagle pride and adjustability on a very challenging layout. We're grateful and excited to play some golf again. I'm looking forward to carrying the momentum for the rest of the semester."

Loa Johannsson (75-77-74=226) saved her best for last. The junior lit up the course with back-to-back birdies on her eighth and ninth holes to pair with 15 pars for Johannsson's third-career top-10 finish. She ended with a team-high seven birdies and 36 pars throughout three rounds. Johannsson found a lot of success on par-3s by tying for the fifth-best average (3.0) in the 76-player field.

Eden Tsouklaris (82-77-78) posted a career-best result of 237 total strokes with four birdies. Savannah Hawthorne (82-82-75=239) turned in her best round of the tournament on Tuesday. All three of her birdies during the event occurred on par-4s.

In her first true three-round collegiate tournament, Alexandra Drum (79-80-81) ended with a total of 240 while Stevie Albright (83-83-79) improved four strokes to finish at 245 shots in her first competition of the season.

Competing as an individual, Jasmine Yang (82-75-87) shot a 244.

No. 4 Flagler blew away the field with an 866 to win by 49 shots over RV Lincoln Memorial (915) with Mount Olive (920) in third.

The Saints' Henriette Stranda was the only individual to finish under par with a 214 (-2) to take the individual title.

Embry-Riddle gets right back on the course next week with the Flagler Fall Slam from Oct. 21 to Oct. 22 in St. Augustine, Fla.
