DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle Director of Athletics Rachel Burleson announced Monday that Michael Chaffman has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations.
In his newly established role, Chaffman will oversee and manage all athletic facility areas within Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach campus. In addition, Chaffman will oversee facility maintenance, improvement and the events surrounding game days, while also handling supervisory duties, including personnel, fiscal management and student development, among many other duties.
Chaffman, most recently holding the title of Athletics Operations Manager, has been with ERAU since 2022 and adds of wealth of experience and knowledge to the facility side of running an efficient game day experience.
Prior to joining Embry-Riddle, Chaffman worked at local Brown & Brown as an account executive, following a four-year stint working with Ryan Ridder, alum and son of Embry-Riddle men's basketball head coach Steve Ridder, from 2015-19. Under Ridder's direction, Chaffman served as the Head Student Assistant for the men's basketball program at Daytona State College from 2015 to 2017. He handled the allocation of the team's equipment budget and managed multimedia assets for internal review.
Chaffman followed Ridder to Bethune-Cookman in 2017 under the same role but with additional responsibility such as overseeing all travel-related logistics and distributing per diem funds.
Chaffman graduated from Bethune-Cookman with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in the spring of 2019.
