Women’s Golf Battles Strong Winds During Final Day of World Golf Invitational

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team overcame difficult playing conditions on a chilly Tuesday to place 12th at the World Golf Invitational with 929 (308-306-315) strokes. Seventeen programs competed at the 6,061-yard, par-72 World Golf Village. It was a loaded field consisting of eight teams ranked inside the top-25, including No. 1 Nova Southeastern, No. 2 Rollins, No. 7 Flagler, No. 10 Barry, No. 11 Lynn, No. 13 Saint Leo, No. 19 Limestone, and No. 21 Lander.
 
After notching back-to-back 75s on Monday, Loa Johannsson recorded a 79 on Tuesday to finish as the top Eagle with 229 strokes.
 
Millie Lawson (78-73-79=230) completed her second round early in the morning, which turned out the be the best score in the round by any Eagle – a 73. In round three, the Metropolis, Illinois native accumulated four birdies in an eight-hole stretch to finish with 230 total strokes.
 
It was arguably Jasmine Yang's best performance of the season as the junior picked up season bests in 54-hole score (73-82-75=230) and placement (T-34th). Yang's final round was highlighted by two consecutive birdies on the par-3 tenth and par-5 11th.
 
Reni Jancsik (82-79-83) tallied a pair of sub-par holes on her way to a 244, and Savannah Hawthorne (87-79-82) placed a few strokes back at 248.
 
Individual Eden Tsouklaris (80-89-78=247) competed in her first collegiate tournament, and she saved her best for last with a third-round 78. Stevie Albright (80-80-81=241) and Gabby Roth (79-82-90=251) also participated as individuals. Roth flashed her skills with the putter as she sunk a 15-foot put on hole No. 6 for birdie.
 
Lynn (288-297-299=884) held on to its day-one lead to win the tournament by ten strokes. Rollins (304-293-297=894) jumped up to second, and Nova Southeastern (293-298-304=895) placed third.
 
Nova Southeastern's Maia Samuelsson (70-74-73=217) captured the individual title.
 
The Eagles get a week off before competing at the Lady Moc Classic on Feb. 19-20 in Lakeland, Florida.
