Hines Reels Off Eight Scores, ERAU Wins Big over UAH, 14-7

JOHN'S CREEK, Ga. – Thanks to eight goals from Isaiah Hines (just one off his own ERAU record-holding nine goals), the Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team (4-3) out-muscled Alabama Huntsville (3-4) on Saturday, 14-7, in a neutral site affair.

Hines tallied eight points on eight goals, while Pete Abbes (2g, a1) and Christian Hofer (2g, 2a) also had multi-score efforts. Coleman Jacobs (1g, 1a) and Christopher Harper (1g) also registered points in the ledger in the win. In net, Reid Kerr went all 60 minutes to pick up the win, stopping 18 of 25 Charger shots in the victory.

The Eagles were dominant in many facets of the game, winning face-offs (16-of-25) and extra-man opportunities (3-of-5 to UAH's 0-for-3). After a quiet few opening minutes, the Eagles scored fast and furiously as Abbes (9:42), Hines from Hofer (6:25) and Hines again unassisted gave ERAU the first period win, 3-1.

Then in its second man-up opportunity of the game, Christian Hofer put the Eagles ahead on a pass from Pete Abbes. Just over a minute later, Hines secured a hat trick in the second at 7:44, unassisted. UAH made it 5-2 at the 4:52 mark, but Coleman Jacobs and Hines each tallied another goal to give ERAU the 7-2 lead at the break.

Hines notched goal No. 5 of the game to open up the action in the second half, and after a Charger goal, Hofer went unassisted, as did Hines again, making it 10-3 in favor of the Blue & Gold by the 10:23 mark in the third.

UAH grabbed another goal, but Jacobs from Dillon McCauley, and Harper from Jacobs pushed the Eagle lead to 13-4 after three periods of play. Hines grabbed goal No. 7 and 8 in the final frame, for the Eagles only scores of the fourth, while UAH tallied three, their best quarter of the afternoon. But it was too little, too late, as the damage from Hines and the Eagles had already been done. ERAU sprinted away with the 14-7 win.

Up next, the Eagles return home after two weeks on the road to face its first SSC competition as Lynn makes the trek into Daytona Beach on Saturday.
