LARGO, Fla. - Embry-Riddle women's golf ended the 2023-24 season with a ninth-place result at the Sunshine State Conference Championship on Tuesday. The Eagles shot a 308 to end with 935 strokes (319-308-308), 10 ahead of Palm Beach Atlantic and just five back of host Eckerd.

"It was a valiant effort by our team under some tough conditions," said Head Coach Maria Lopez. "We played with grit and class. It was a tremendous season of growth and competitiveness. I'm grateful for our graduate senior Millie Lawson. She honored the legacy of our program and the athletic department well."

Play was held at the par-72, 6,077-yard course at the Bayou Club. Included in the 10-team field were seven programs ranked inside the top-25 of the Clippd rankings, such as No. 4 Nova Southeastern, No. 7 Rollins, No. 10 Barry, No. 11 Lynn, No. 14 Saint Leo, No. 23 Florida Southern, and No. 25 Tampa.

Embry-Riddle found success on par-3s as the Eagles had the fourth best average in the tournament on such holes. ERAU also played consistently, registering 157 pars, tied third most by a team.

It was a career-best tournament for Reni Jancsik, who notched a personal-low 54-hole total of 233 (78-74-81) to place 25th, the junior's best finish of her season. Jancsik led the team in birdies over the three rounds with six.

Lawson was consistent, tallying a 78 in all three rounds for 234 shots.

Loa Johannsson (79-77-79=235) began her third round with pars on seven of the first eight holes. She finished with 36 pars over 54 holes, which tied for the third-most in the 50-player field.

Jasmine Yang (84-79-74=237) continued to improve as the tournament went on, saving her best for last with a team-low 74 on Tuesday partly thanks to a team-leading three birdies. Yang excelled on par-3 holes and tied for the third-lowest average by any participant on such holes (2.92).

Lawson, Johannsson, and Yang were the only Eagles to compete in all eight tournaments this season.

Like Yang, Savannah Hawthorne (86-83-77=246) gradually performed better and capped off the season with her lowest third-round score of the year (77).

Saint Leo (307-298-292=897) held on to its lead to win the conference title by seven shots over Nova Southeastern (304-305-295=904) while Florida Southern (301-312-299=912) narrowly grabbed third.

The Lions' Maya Cote (71-72-72=215) was the only participant to finish under par to win the individual title.

That concludes the 2023-24 season for Embry-Riddle women's golf. This year, the Eagles recorded the program's third-best season scoring average at 312.6 strokes per round, just 2.23 strokes off the record.

A pair of members of the Blue and Gold earned spots on the program's top-10 season stroke average list as Johannsson (77.57) and Lawson (77.61) ended with the eighth and ninth best averages by an Eagle. Additionally, Lawson concluded her three-year career with a career average of 77.88, the second lowest by any member of the program. The Metropolis, Illinois native also notched a career win-loss percentage of .558.
