Britton Named Academic All-American

| By:
AUSTIN, Texas – Embry-Riddle outfielder Alex Britton was named a 2024 Academic All-American, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) last week. Britton, a third team member, is the first Eagle since 2016 to earn the national academic recognition.

Britton, already a CSC Academic All-District and Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient due to his stellar 3.93 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, adds the latest academic accolade on top of an outstanding season of production on the field to close out his career in Daytona Beach.

The Orlando, Fla., native also was chosen to the SSC All-Defensive team for the Eagles after posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 54 games patrolling the outfield for the Blue & Gold. He amassed 130 putouts and two outfield assists, including a game-saver in conference play defensively, while putting together a solid year at the plate as well. At the dish, Britton commanded the zone, batting .319 (fourth on the squad) with 53 runs, 67 hits and 34 RBI, and sported a team-best 31-game on-base streak to end the season.

Britton helped the Eagles reach the NCAA II National Tournament, making it all the way to the Super Regionals for the first time in program history on the heels of a 35-22 record. ERAU was just one win away from a trip to Cary, N.C., for the eight-team Tournament finals.
