HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Embry-Riddle women's cross country team closed out the regular season with an impressive seventh-place finish at the UAH Charger Invitational, posting several historic marks in what proved to be a strong statement heading into postseason competition.
For the first time this season, freshman standout Cristina Soto led the Eagles across the line, clocking 22:15.4 to record the 11th-fastest 6K time in program history. Junior Taylor Roth followed closely behind in 22:23.9, marking her third career appearance in ERAU's top-20 record book with the 13th-fastest 6K ever by an Eagle.
Rounding out the scoring five were Leanna Rogers, Charlotte O'Brien, and Zara Zervos, each turning in personal bests to help the Blue and Gold secure the third-fastest team average (22:42) in program history. The trio's emergence showcased the team's depth and pack-running strength, key components that have defined the Eagles' success this season.
"We came out with a much better attitude in this race and competed early on," head coach Mike Rosolino said. "This time we showed why this team is one of the best we've ever had — if not the best. Great efforts all around today and a great confidence boost as we head into the postseason, with everyone either setting a new personal best or season best."
