LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's cross country team matched its 2024 showing with a fourth-place finish at the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Championships. This year's field was the deepest in recent memory, as nine teams fielded scoring squads, the most since the 2020-21 season, following four straight years with only seven.
Junior Taylor Roth once again led the way for the Blue and Gold, finishing ninth overall in 21:56.6, earning Second Team All-Conference honors and coming within three seconds of her personal best. Freshman Cristina Soto continued her outstanding debut season as the Eagles' second finisher, placing 17th overall to cap another consistent performance.
Behind the lead duo, Embry-Riddle showcased its depth and pack-running strength, as five Eagles finished within just 32 seconds of one another. Freshman Leanna Rogers (22:56.1), senior Mackenzie Keller (23:06.7), and sophomore Charlotte O'Brien (23:11.4) rounded out the team's scoring five, while senior Zara Zervos (23:17.0) and sophomore Emily Tubbs (23:28.5) were close behind.
The Eagles, currently ranked eighth in the NCAA II South Region, will now turn their attention to the NCAA II South Regional, where they'll aim to build on their momentum from strong showings at both the UAH Charger Invitationaland the SSC Championships. Embry-Riddle also finished eighth at last year's regional and will look to take a significant step forward this time around.
