ORLANDO, Fla. – Stella Roane's stellar week between the posts was capped off on Monday when she was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Roane becomes the third different Embry-Riddle women's soccer player to earn the honor this season, joining Lauryn Mateo and Thea Nyberg.
The Colorado native turned in an impressive stat line over two matches, totaling 11 saves, a .916 save percentage, a 0.50 goals-against average, one shutout, and a perfect 2-0 record.
On Wednesday, Roane made seven saves to help the Eagles secure a 2-1 road win over Flagler. She followed that up with a shutout in Saturday's 1-0 victory against Eckerd. Her highlight moment came in the 60th minute, when she made a double save on a penalty kick to preserve the Eagles' one-goal lead and complete a flawless week for the Blue and Gold. With the pair of wins, the junior remains unbeaten in her collegiate career, improving to 6-0-4 overall.
