Gallop Steps Down After 21 Years of Leading Embry-Riddle Volleyball

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After 21 years at the helm of the Embry-Riddle volleyball program, Joslynn Gallop has announced that she will be stepping away from her role as head coach of the Eagles' program.

The long-standing leader of ERAU volleyball has spent two decades building the Embry-Riddle volleyball program into one of the best small college programs in the country.

During her tenure, Gallop developed the Blue and Gold into a NAIA power prior to finding success at the NCAA Division II level. Gallop has etched herself as the program's all-time leader in career wins with 420, capturing six Coach of the Year honors along the way.

"This was not an easy decision, but I am thankful for my time in Daytona Beach and for the many great memories while leading the program," Gallop said.

Just the third head coach in the history of volleyball at ERAU, Gallop has led the program through the transition into Division II play and has coached four AVCA All-Americans, five All-Region players, and seven All-Conference performers since the change in 2015. In the seven years the program has been eligible for NCAA postseason play, Gallop's squad qualified for the NCAA South Region Tournament on four occasions.

Overall, Gallop and company have made nine national tournament appearances, secured seven conference titles, developed over 50 All-Conference selections, and produced 11 individual All-Americans for a total of 23 All-American honors while recording 20-win seasons 11 times.

"Joslynn has been a cornerstone for Embry-Riddle Athletics for 21 years and she will be greatly missed," Director of Athletics Dr. Rachel Burleson stated. "She has poured herself into this program and has shaped the lives of countless student-athletes, building a legacy and culture that we can be proud of."

"Her impact reaches beyond the court which is reflected in the relationships, mentorship, and the deep care she has shown to our community," Burleson added. "We are grateful for her many years of service to our university, and she will always be a part of the Embry-Riddle family; once an Eagle, always an Eagle."

For the remainder of the season, Assistant Coach Roberto Rodriguez will take over the leadership of the program and serve as the interim head coach.

Embry-Riddle will begin a national search soon to identify the next leader of the volleyball program.
