Rollins Rallies for Series-Opening Win Over Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team jumped out to an early, but defensive miscues helped Rollins rally for a 12-6 win on Friday at Sliwa Stadium. The 25th-ranked Eagles led 6-2 after five, but the Tars put up crooked numbers in three of the last four innings while their pitchers shut down the ERAU offense during that stretch to hand the Eagles their first Sunshine State Conference loss of the season.

RECORDS
No. 25 Embry-Riddle: 8-3, 3-1 SSC (L: Harrison, 1-1)
Rollins: 10-4, 2-2 SSC (W: Tipmore, 2-0)

GAME 1
First Inning
• The first three batters of the game for the Eagles all reached base.
AJ Marinello led off the inning with a single to right field.
• The next batter, Matthew Coker, swung at the first pitch he saw and sent it over the left field fence to put the Eagles up 2-0.
• Next up was Max Kops who, after being hit by a pitch, moved up on a ground out and a wild pitch and scored on a Noah Clymer ground out to short to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

Third Inning
• The Tars got on the board with two runs in the third.
• Three straight singles loaded the bases for Corey Zientek who singled up the middle to send two across.

Fifth Inning
• Following a visit to the mound by the Tars, Timo Aracena hit Tyler Toro's first offering down the right field line under the glove of the first baseman to drive in Coker and move Kops to third.
• With nobody out, the Eagle bats kept going as Clymer's single to right center scored Kops and moved Aracena to third.
Robert Post drove in Aracena for the third run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to right center.

Sixth Inning
• After the Eagles' four-run fifth, the Tars answered with two in the top of the sixth.
• A hit batter and a single put runners on and they both came around to score on Joey Rubin's single through the left side.

Seventh Inning
• Zientek tripled to lead off the seventh and scored the only run of the inning on Chris Sparber's sacrifice fly to make it 6-5 in favor of the Eagles.

Eighth Inning
• The Rollins rally continued in the eighth as they scored four runs to take over the lead.
• Three of the Tars' runs came with two outs, highlighted by a double down the left field line that gave Rollins a 9-6 advantage.
• The Eagles had a chance to answer in the bottom of the inning putting two runners on with no outs, but the infield fly rule cost them two outs and the home team ended the frame without adding to their tally.

Ninth Inning
• Errors plagued the Eagles in the ninth.
• Reliever Nick Rich got Rubin to strike out, but a throwing error allowed Rubin to reach base and Angelo Ramirez to score.
• Two more Eagle errors allowed Rubin to score and Mason Wilson drove in the final run of the game to seal the win.
