DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team grabbed its first Sunshine State Conference victory of the season with an exciting 10-9 defeat of Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon at the ERAU Lacrosse Field.

Christian Hofer scored two goals apiece for the Eagles.

Carter Groezinger matched his season high with 16 saves.
First Quarter
• The Moccasins scored first at the 6:08 mark on a man-up opportunity.

Giacomo Comuzzi answered for the Eagles a minute and a half later to tie the score.
• Florida Southern added two to their tally in the last 3:36 of the quarter to take a 3-1 lead.
Second Quarter
• The teams' fortunes were reversed in the second quarter as it was the Eagles who outscored the Moccasins 3-1 in that 15-minute period.

Leo Mileto's goal at the 13:24 mark and
Christian Hofer's unassisted score with 5:54 left in the period tied the score at 3-3.
• Both teams scored in the last four minutes, leading to a 4-4 tie at the half.
Third Quarter
• The teams combined for six shots in the first six minutes of the third period, but neither team was able to convert until
Christian Hofer fed Christian Harper for the first of four unanswered goals.
• Hofer and Harper contributed to two of the next three Eagle goals which put the home team up 8-4.
• After the fourth Eagle goal, the Moccasins called a timeout and it proved effective as they scored three times in the last 3:33 to make it a one-point (8-7) game.
Fourth Quarter
• Just under five minutes into the final frame,
Lucas Anthony took a short pass from
Tim Keefe and rifled a shot past the Moccasin goalie to give the Eagles a two-goal cushion.
• The advantage was short-lived as Florida Southern scored twice in 30 seconds to tie the score at 9-9 with 3:21 left to play.
• The Moccasins won the ensuing faceoff and got a look at goal, but ERAU goalie
Carter Groezinger came up with the first of three big saves late.
• With 1:16 remaining,
Pete Abbes collected the ball on the right side and after spinning away from his mark, the senior beat the FSC goalie low for the game-winner.
• The Moccasins managed two more shots but Groezinger stopped both to help seal the win.
