Women’s Track and Field Shows No Signs of Rust at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational

Gainesville, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's track and field team opened the indoor season with momentum at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational, rewriting the program record book with two school records and earning several event victories.
Highlight Performances:
  • Kailey Ludwig made a memorable debut in her first meet as an Eagle, breaking the school record in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.70 meters to win the event.
  • Mikaela Miles continued to rewrite the program record book, winning the triple jump while breaking her own school record with a leap of 12.75 meters. The mark met the NCAA Division II provisional standard and currently ranks No. 2 in Division II.
  • Cheyenne Wetch tied the previous school record in the pole vault during her first meet as an Eagle, finishing third overall. Her performance places her tied for second on the program's all-time list (PR).
  • Taylor Roth etched her name into program history, becoming just the fourth Embry-Riddle women's track and field athlete to break the five-minute barrier in the mile. Roth won the event with a time of 4:58.67 and now ranks fourth all-time in program history (PR).
Including the highlight performances, the Blue and Gold recorded 20 top-five finishes, with seven of those finishes resulting in event victories.

The Eagles will be back in action at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, Fla. for the ACSEC Invite and Multi from Jan. 23 to Jan. 24.
