LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Embry-Riddle placed seventh at the NCAA Division II Pre-National meet at Rim Rock Farms on Friday, scoring 201 points. The Eagles ran without senior Nicholas Scarangelli, who has finished in the top two for the Blue & Gold in each of the team's two races this season.

Sophomore Taye Newman rose to the challenge, leading the Eagles with an eighth-place finish. Embry-Riddle finished right behind No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona (fifth) and No. 30 Missouri S&T (sixth).

Behind Newman, Henry Friedrichs and Rylan Malarchick each posted top-50 finishes, placing 28th and 44th, respectively. Lucca DiMario and Joseph Koraya rounded out the scoring five. DiMario, who placed 63rd, scored for the Eagles for the first time this season, stepping in to provide key depth in Scarangelli's absence.
