HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
  • North Greenville won the opening faceoff and also found the opening goal at the 13:56 mark when Aydan Sizemore picked up a rebound and immediately scored.
  • Tim Keefe, who leads the Eagles in goals this season, grabbed his first of the day when he scored with 11:14 remaining in the quarter off of an assist from Lucas Anthony.
  • Less than 90 seconds later, Giacomo Comuzzi caused an NGU turnover and it was finished off by Jay Kyle, putting ERAU ahead for the first time and they would never relinquish the lead.
  • Embry-Riddle would finish off their 6-0 run with four goals in the final four minutes of the quarter. Gavin Young made it 3-1 with 3:46 left in the quarter after Keefe provided the assist.
  • Christopher Harper and Connor Hinson combined to push the Eagles' lead to 5-1 when they scored within 60 seconds of each other, before Harper scored the team's sixth of the quarter with a deep buzzer-beating goal.
Second Quarter
  • The Trailblazers would look to turn the tide by changing their goalie in between quarters, with Race Bowen playing the final 45 minutes in the crease. NGU would again score the first goal of the quarter to cut their deficit to 6-2.
  • Keefe was unfazed by the change in net from North Greenville, restoring Embry-Riddle's five-goal lead, less than 60 seconds after their goal.
  • Two goals in the first two minutes of the quarter would set the tone for the rest of the half, seeing the squads combine for 10 goals in the second quarter alone.
  • Leo Mileto scored an unassisted goal with 11:25 remaining in the half, putting ERAU up 8-2 after a Trailblazer turnover.
  • Sizemore and Hamilton grabbed back-to-back goals for NGU, seeing the Blue and Gold's lead shrink to 8-4 heading into the final eight minutes of the quarter.
  • Young and Mileto answered with a pair of goals just 30 seconds apart from each other, putting the score at 10-4 with 4:43 left in the period.
  • Anthony gave the Eagles their 11th goal of the half with still three minutes to play, but it was Caden Castle who found the back of the net twice in the last minute to give us an 11-6 scoreline halfway through the contest.
Third Quarter
  • Embry-Riddle was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty in between the quarters, which was the first of six penalties called against ERAU in the next 10 minutes of action.
  • The Trailblazers capitalized on the first man-up opportunity of the game, making it 11-7 after an early goal out of the break.
  • Another penalty was given to the Eagles for an illegal body check during the first goal, seeing Castle grab NGU's second man-up goal of the quarter just 52 seconds later.
  • A third penalty against the Blue and Gold was called in the first three minutes of the half, but Reid Kerr was able to make the save. Due to the penalties, NGU took more shots (21) in the third quarter than they did in the entire first half (20).
  • However, Kerr was called for a penalty with 6:57 left in the quarter, simultaneously to Delaney Garner, forcing Embry-Riddle to play two men short.
  • North Greenville capitalized with their third man-up goal of the half just 10 seconds after the pair of penalties were assessed, but ERAU would not concede another goal for the next four minutes with Carter Groezinger in the cage during Kerr's penalty.
  • The Trailblazers run of six consecutive goals finished when they made it 11-10 with 2:51 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Keefe finished off his hat trick in the final seconds of the period, giving Embry-Riddle some momentum and a two-goal advantage as we headed to the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
  • Lucas Anthony would take over during the fourth quarter, leading ERAU to their fourth win of the season. The sophomore attacker scored three goals in a three-minute span, seeing Embry-Riddle go up 15-10 heading into the final nine minutes.
  • NGU scored two goals that were carbon copies of each other just 30 seconds apart with Nick Meier grabbing two goals off of a pair of assists from Liam Brubacher.
  • Young become the third different Eagle with a hat trick this afternoon when he made the score 16-12 with 7:02 remaining in the game.
  • Pierce Montes picked up his fifth goal of the week when he made it 17-12, with the final 3:49 of the game being played without a goal.
