HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
  • The game was scoreless for nearly the opening ten minutes, with each goalie making a pair of early saves and Tim Keefe having a shot go off the crossbar.
  • But once the Eagles got their first goal through Spence Hondru, the next goals followed in quick succession. ERAU was up 3-0 less than two minutes after Hondru's opener.
  • ERAU outshot the Falcons 11-6 in the opening quarter, with Reid Kerr saving each of the four shots on goal he faced.
Second Quarter
  • Embry-Riddle continued to disrupt the Falcon attack in the second quarter, seeing Montevallo commit nine turnovers in the quarter. They would go on to commit at least seven turnovers in all four quarters.
  • The Eagles would use that to create a 15-5 shot advantage in the quarter, including eight shots on goal. The first goal of the quarter came from Gavin Young with the first goal of his career, making it 4-0.
  • Michael Howkins got Montevallo on the scoreboard with 6:39 to go in the first half, but Hondru's second goal of the half would restore the Eagles' four-goal lead headed into the break.
Third Quarter
  • Just 15 seconds into the third quarter, Luke Barber added another goal for Embry-Riddle. Barber picked up the ground ball off the faceoff and took it the rest of the way, placing his shot into the top corner.
  • Matthew Hawkins seemed to put the Eagles out of reach when the first goal of his career made it 7-1. Hawkins finished the day with a goal, an assist, four shots, and three shots on goal.
  • ERAU won two of the three faceoffs in the third quarter, also picking up seven ground balls compared to just three for Montevallo.
  • The Blue and Gold combined for 38 shots in the first three quarters, scoring seven goals and forcing the Falcons keeper to make 14 saves.
Fourth Quarter
  • Montevallo would try to put some pressure on the Eagles in the final quarter, scoring a pair of goals in the first three minutes.
  • Lucas Anthony got some momentum back for Embry-Riddle with a goal at the 8:35 mark to put ERAU back up 8-3.
  • However, with the Falcons winning all eight of the faceoffs in the quarter, they would answer Anthony's goal with one of their own less than a minute later.
  • Leo Mileto would finish out the game by picking up 2 goals and an assist in the final six minutes, making sure the Eagles balanced effort all across the field resulted in a convincing 11-4 win.
