ALL-TIME SERIES
- Saturday marked the first meeting between the two programs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 9 Washburn showed early why it is a top-10 team, taking a 2-1 edge in doubles to claim the opening point. Mariana Cabrera and Ashley Moinard provided the lone doubles victory for the Eagles, defeating Riko Konno and Peyton Koper at No. 3.
- Embry-Riddle responded quickly in singles to even the match at 1-1. Daniela Fernandez Junquera continued her strong stretch of play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jasel Bailey at No. 4.
- Benedetta Sensi followed with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory against Daniela Tijaro at No. 3 singles, giving the Eagles their first lead of the afternoon.
- The momentum shifted at the top of the lineup as Washburn claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, pushing the Eagles behind 3-2 and leaving the outcome in the hands of the bottom two courts once again.
- Franziska Kremerskothen delivered under pressure, earning a steady 6-4, 6-2 win over Charlotte Bair at No. 6 to even the match at 3-3.
- That left No. 5 singles as the decider. For the second time this season, Moinard was called upon in a winner-take-all situation. She claimed the first set 6-3 before falling in a tightly contested 7-5 tiebreak in the second. Unshaken by the momentum shift, Moinard surged in the third set, closing out a 6-2 victory to seal the 4-3 win over No. 9 Washburn.
