No. 1 Women’s Rowing Wins Back-to-Back Races During Sarasota 2K

SARASOTA, Fla. — No. 1 Embry-Riddle women's rowing turned in a strong showing Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park during the Sarasota 2K. The Eagles competed in the 2X and single for the first time this season while recording a top-three finish across all seven races, including victories in the V8+ and 2X.

The opening race of the morning saw the V4+ finish in third place behind Nova Southeastern and Rollins, crossing the finish line at 8:43.92. ERAU's first win of the day came in the very next race when the V8+ recorded a time of 7:47.82, beating three other SSC boats in the 2,000 meter competition.

To begin the afternoon, Gracie Thompson and Soleil Edwards added another win for the Blue and Gold in the 2X, posting an 8:33.26 in their first race together this season to edge both UF and Tampa. 

Reese Franqueiro had a busy day on the water, earning a podium finish in the single with a time of 9:19.49 following her win as part of the V8+ boat. Embry-Riddle followed with a runner-up finish in the JV4+, narrowly trailing Rollins.

The 2V4+ added another second-place result for the Eagles, finishing less than three seconds behind the winning boat (9:01.67). The V4+ closed out the day with its second race, improving its morning time by just over three seconds.

UP NEXT
The Eagles will be competing in the D2 Invite next weekend which takes place in Clermont, Florida at the Lake County Rowing Association. Embry-Riddle will be competing against multiple conference teams, including: Rollins, Nova Southeastern, Barry, and more.
