HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
  • It did not take long for the scoring to get started in the first round of the postseason as Florida Tech won the opening draw and scored just 18 seconds into the game through Gillian Craig.
  • Embry-Riddle equalized within the first five minutes when Natalie Jansky scored the team's first goal on a free position shot. The Eagles drew 11 fouls in the game against the Panthers, scoring three goals from eight meters this afternoon.
  • After Sophia Scichilone saw her own free position shot saved by Ella-Rae Cox, she scored on her next attempt and put FT back in front 2-1 with 5:33 left in the period.
  • Craig scored another goal for Florida Tech at 3:59 but Eliana Enners answered on the very next possession with the second free position goal of the game for the Blue and Gold, ending the quarter at 3-2.
Second Quarter
  • The first three goals of the game for ERAU all came from eight meters out as Ashley Albert tied the game at 3-3 with 12:20 to go before halftime on another free position shot.
  • A pair of goals from Jordan Davis put Embry-Riddle ahead 5-3 halfway through the quarter. The Eagles opened with four unassisted goals before recording helpers on nine of their final 12 scores, including an assist from Jansky on the second goal from Davis.
  • Scichilone started a flurry of six goals in the final six minutes of the half when she made it 5-4 at 5:55. Leah Coletti, who has scored in seven of her last nine games, had a quick answer to push the Blue and Gold's advantage back to two.
  • Florida Tech scored twice in a span of 30 seconds to tie the game at 6-6, with the second of those goals coming while a woman-up at 2:35. Before the two-minute penalty had been released, Ava Rogala put ERAU ahead 7-6 with the team's fifth woman-down goal of the season.
  • Rogala added a second goal in the final 15 seconds of the half, finishing a rebound after her initial shot was saved, giving Embry-Riddle an 8-6 lead at the break.
Third Quarter
  • The Panthers got the second half started with some flair as Craig scored a behind-the-back goal to cut ERAU's advantage in half with 11:15 on the clock.
  • Caitlin Gavin, who earned the start as a defender today, found herself on the scoresheet after racing coast-to-coast and beating the goaltender, seeing the Blue and Gold take a 9-7 lead. Gavin has scored in all three games against Florida Tech.
  • Bridget Robinson made three saves in the quarter after Gavin's goal, keeping Embry-Riddle scoreless for the final 9:10 of the period.
  • While Robinson was working on the defensive end, Craig added on two more goals less than 45 seconds apart, tying the game at nine goals apiece as we headed into the final 15 minutes of the game.
Fourth Quarter
  • The Eagles were happy to welcome Allison Cimaglia back to the lineup this afternoon after she missed the team's game against Tampa earlier this week. Cimaglia provided two assists in the first two minutes of the quarter, watching Enners and Jansky put the Blue and Gold ahead 11-9 by 13:36.
  • Over the next six minutes, there was only one goal scored, as Florida Tech made it 11-10 with 10:59 remaining and the score wouldn't change until ERAU scored at 7:11.
  • Jansky completed her hat trick when she put Embry-Riddle in front 12-10 but the Panthers refused to go down without a fight, making it a one goal game through Sofie Bender as we headed into the final five minutes.
  • Along with providing three assists, Cimaglia added another point when found the back of the net at 4:45. The Eagles ended the game on a 4-0 run with Aubrey Schmidt seemingly ending the game when she made it 14-11 with just 2:36 left.
  • Enners and Jansky, who lead the team in goals and assists respectively, combined once again to put ERAU in front 15-11 before Enners added another empty-net goal on one of the last possessions of the game.

INSIDE THE STATS
  • The Eagles had 11 different players record at least one point this afternoon with nine of them scoring a goal.
  • ERAU had 13 more ground balls than Florida Tech today, 23-10, the largest differential in a game this season for Embry-Riddle.
  • Natalie Jansky has scored in all 16 games this season, and is in her best form of the year as she has recorded her first two hat tricks of the season in the past two games.
