DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Three members of the Embry-Riddle men's and women's track and field teams were honored Monday for their performances at the Embry-Riddle Classic, earning recognition from the Sunshine State Conference and Peach Belt Conference.
Women's Track and Field
Two members of the Embry-Riddle women's track and field team earned Athlete of the Week honors, with one recognized by both the PBC and SSC.
Taylor Roth was named the PBC Women's Track Athlete of the Week and the SSC Distance Track Athlete of the Week following her victory in the 800m at the Embry-Riddle Classic. Roth ran 2:10.72, besting teammate Laura McBride, who finished runner-up in 2:12.48. Roth's time met the NCAA II provisional standard and ranks 21st in Division II.
Alexandra Baltazar Hall competed in three throwing events at the Embry-Riddle Classic, finishing in the top eight in all three and earning runner-up honors in two. She placed seventh in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 43.10m. Baltazar Hall added a second-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 12.85m. In the discus, she recorded a throw of 47.10m, an NCAA II top-20 mark that ranks 18th nationally and stands as another personal best in an Embry-Riddle uniform.
Men's Track and Field
Nicholas Scarangelli turned in a strong distance double Friday night at the Embry-Riddle Classic, opening with a second-place finish in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 3:48.40. He followed by making his collegiate 10,000m debut, winning the event in 31:50.53 to close out the night.
