AT A GLANCE
A top-10 matchup will take place in the ICI Center on Saturday night as the No. 1 Northwood Seahawks travel to Daytona Beach to square off with the No. 8 Embry-Riddle Eagles. The Seahawks and Eagles have been the premier teams in The Sun Conference over the past six seasons and the all-time series is deadlocked at 8-8.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The rebounding battle will be a key factor in tomorrow night's contest. The Seahawks outrebound their opponents by more than 10 boards per game, while the Eagles manage six more rebounds than their opponents. Northwood pulls down 12 offensive rebounds each game, giving them a clear advantage in second-chance points opportunities. However, the Eagles bring in 12.8 offensive boards every night.

SCOUTING NORTHWOOD
Head Coach Rollie Massimino brings his Seahawks to Daytona Beach with a perfect, 6-0 record and having won 15 of their last 16 games, dating back to the 2011-12 season. Many will notice the departure of NAIA II National Player of the Year Jonathan Dunn after the Seahawks' all-time leading scorer graduated from the program following NU's national runner-up finish last year. But Northwood reloaded this year with NCAA I tranfer Ra'Shad James from Iona (N.Y.) and returned Masse Doumbe, Ty Davis and Patrick Horstmann from last year's Sun Conference champion squad.

James, a 6-1 guard, leads the Seahawks with 22.0 points per game, shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor and an even more impressive 63 percent from beyond the arc. Doumbe is scoring more than 18 points per game, while Tracy Parks and Davis are each in double figures on the offensive end. Davis also leads the nation with 10.8 assists per contest.

LAST GAME: Embry-Riddle Takes Care of Florida Memorial, 77-62
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The eighth-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles opened their 2012-13 Sun Conference slate with a 77-62 victory over Florida Memorial on Wednesday night in the ICI Center. The Eagles led by as many as 23 and the Lions were never able to make it a game as Embry-Riddle won its sixth straight game, moving to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in The Sun Conference. Florida Memorial drops to 2-4 and 0-1.

MATTER OF REVENGE...FOR BOTH TEAMS
Both the Eagles and Seahawks will have revenge on their minds Saturday night in the ICI Center. The Seahawks ended Embry-Riddle's season last year with an 80-64 win in the semifinals of The Sun Conference Tournament in West Palm Beach. However, the Eagles upset Northwood in the ICI Center a year ago when the Seahawks were ranked No. 1, causing a storming of the court by the Eagle fans.

BREAKING THE TIE
Since Northwood began the men's basketball program in 2007, the Eagles and Seahawks have met 16 times, each team winning eight apiece. Saturday's game will break the all-time tie between the two squads with at least one more matchup slated for later this season in West Palm Beach.

GONNA BE A TIGHT ONE
10 of the 16 contests these two teams have played have been decided by six points or less with the average margin of victory being 7.8. Five games in the series have come down to one possession, the Eagles hold a slim, 3-2 lead in those contests.

No. 1 RANKINGS THE NORM FOR THESE TWO TEAMS
Since the 1999-00 season (the year the NAIA began keeping records of national rankings), the Eagles own the most No. 1 rankings with 17. The Blue and Gold spent the entirety of 2001 and the majority of 2006 occupying the top spot. Northwood ranks third since 1999-00 with 12 mentions at No. 1, tied with Walsh (Ohio) and Oklahoma Wesleyan and behind last year's national champion, Oregon Tech's 15.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY - BENEFIT NIGHT
For every ticket sold at the gate on Saturday, $1 will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

NEXT STOP - 500
DeForest Carter is just six points shy of 500 for his career. The sophomore from Montverde, Fla. leads the team in scoring this season at 14.1 points per game.

QUARTER CENTURY OF EAGLE BASKETBALL
The 2012-13 season marks the 25th edition of Eagle basketball and Embry-Riddle athletics overall. The basketball, baseball, men's tennis and men's golf programs began in the 1988-89 academic year and were the foundation the rest of the department was built upon.

Embry-Riddle is 563-235 in 24 seasons, capturing eight conference regular season titles, nine conference tournament titles, claiming 17 NAIA All-America honors, 15 Honorable Mention All-American honors and reaching the pinnacle of NAIA basketball in 2000 when the Eagles won the NAIA II National Championship.
