MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle Eagles came away with an afternoon victory over DeVry (Fla.) on Monday, defeating the Skyhawks, 89-32 in a neutral site contest. Senior
Ben Redfield scored a career-high 18 points for the eighth-ranked Eagles, helping the Blue and Gold improve its record to 10-1 overall, stretching the Eagles' winning streak to eight.
Embry-Riddle jumped out to an early, 14-3 lead with just under 15 minutes left in the first half, thanks to seven consecutive layups by the Eagles. The Blue and Gold didn't stop there, increasing the advantage to 28-10 on two
Billy Serle free throws at the 8:05 mark.
The Eagles went on to outscore the Skyhawks 22-6 over the final eight minutes for a 50-16 halftime lead.
ERAU shot nearly 60 percent from the floor in the opening frame, assisting on 16 of the 19 made baskets. Redfield led all scorers with 14 at the break on 5-for-5 shooting, including four three-pointers.
The Skyhawks began the second half much better than the first, playing the Eagles even over the first five minutes of play. However, the Eagles held DeVry scoreless for five minutes twice during the final 12 minutes, and ended the contest on a 27-8 run.
Redfield was 7-for-8 from the floor for 18 points. His streak of 10 consecutive three-pointers made, dating back to Nov. 13, ended with 48 seconds left in the game.
Rico Saldana added 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting, while
Brandon Serle had 13 markers for the Eagles.

Sam Ford all scored 10 points and every Embry-Riddle player that entered the game scored.
The Eagles dished out a season-high 31 assists on 37 buckets, and collected 13 steals while recording 12 blocks.
Embry-Riddle will be back in action after an 11-day hiatus on Dec. 14 to play Rio Grande in the ICI Center at 7 p.m.
