ERAU Athletics Family Mourns the Loss of Nancy Trillow

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle Athletics family lost a member of its family on Monday as Nancy Trillow passed away after battling cancer for many years.

Originally from Winchester, Kentucky, Nancy joined the Embry-Riddle staff in August of 1978 and was immediately involved when the ERAU Athletics program began 10 years later in 1988. She served as the Eagles eligibility coordinator for many years and was an advocate for athletic and academic success, continually seeking to acknowledge outstanding student-athlete achievement.

"We are saddened to learn of the loss of one of our Embry-Riddle athletic family members, Nancy Trillow," ERAU Director of Athletics Steve Ridder said. "Nancy impacted so many student-athletes' lives in her role as the eligibility coordinator for the Eagles.  Her devotion to our athletic program, student-athletes, and coaches was impressive beyond measure. She was admired by her peers for her loyalty to the NAIA, Embry-Riddle and our student-athletes, as she exemplified the Champions of Character traits in her numerous leadership roles.  She was a very special friend to the many people connected to our university and athletic program.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy's family and loved ones."

In addition to her duties with the Eagles, Nancy served as the Faculty Athletic Representative for The Sun Conference (formerly the Florida Sun Conference) and was also the league's Eligibility and Awards Chair. She served on the SACS reaffirmation Preparation Team, the ERAU Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee and the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics.

Nancy also served as the NAIA Region XIV FAR, Chair and Vice Chair of the Faculty Athletic Representative Association, was a Council of FARs Member and contributed to the FARA web page development. Nancy's NAIA responsibilities also spanned outside her FAR duties as she served on the Gender Equity Committee, chaired the Learning Disabilities Advisory Board and International Student-Athlete Task Force. She was also a member of the Liston Selection Region XIV Regional Management committees.

Her efforts did not go unnoticed as Nancy was named the conference's Female Administrator of the Year in 1999 and 2001, and was the recipient of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' (NAIA) Wally Schwartz Award in 2003. In 2008 she was inducted in the NAIA's Hall of Fame for meritorious service.

Nancy is survived by sons David and Derek. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17th at the Piggotte Community Center in South Daytona.
