THE OPENING TIP
• Embry-Riddle and Nova Southeastern will be playing for the 29th time, but first since 2002. ERAU leads the all-time series, 20-8.
• The Blue and Gold will play a full Sunshine State Conference schedule beginning next season, renewing the biannual rivalry with NSU.
• DeForest Carter moved past Ryan Rothrock on the all-time scoring list last weekend, now standing at 1,368 career points, 16th all-time.
• Cesar Pastrana broke into the top 10 all-time in career rebounds over the weekend, nor at 634 in his four-year career.
• The Eagles No. 13 preseason ranking marks the sixth straight season the Eagles have been ranked in the preseason national poll.

THE EAGLES

Embry-Riddle improved to 6-0 on Saturday with a 60-57 win over Briar Cliff in the title game of the 2014 Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout. The Eagles continue to shoot the ball at an impressive clip, averaging 54 percent from the floor and 41 percent from three. The Blue and Gold has held opponents to 64.5 points per game while forcing over 20 turnovers per contest.

Four Eagles average in double-figures, led by senior center Cesar Pastrana's 14.8 points per game. Pastrana ranks fifth in the country with a 71 percent field goal percentage while pulling down more than six rebounds per contest. Dalton Barnes is chipping in 13.7 points, 3.8 assists and 3.7 boards per game, while newcomer Joseph Gonzalez has scored in double-figures in all but one game thus far, averaging 11.3 points for his new team.

Stat sheet stuffer DeForest Carter is at it once again in his final season with the Eagles, posting averages of 11.0 points, 6.7 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 steals per outing.

THE SHARKS
Nova Southeastern was picked third in the SSC preseason coaches' poll and is 1-1 overall, downing Johnson (Fla.) at home before dropping a road contest to NCAA I Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 15.

Harrison Goodrick leads the Sharks with a 14.0 ppg average while Nick Rosa adds 10.0 per game and Justin Jeangerard is at 9.5 ppg for NSU. Brandon Patchan is grabbing 8.5 boards per game while 10 of 12 players that have played are averaging at least an assist per contest.

Heading into his 26th season at the helm of the ERAU men's basketball program, Head Coach Steve Ridder ranks fifth on the NAIA Division II men's basketball winningest active coaches listing. Ridder has 611 wins in 26 seasons as the Eagles' head coach.
