BOCA RATON, Fla. – The top-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team had a 2-1 edge after doubles but was unable to sustain the lead, falling to NCAA II No. 4 Lynn 6-3, Saturday at the Perper Tennis Complex. The Eagles are now 4-2 on the year, with both losses coming to top-four NCAA II opponents, while Lynn remains undefeated at 9-0.

ERAU picked up its first point of the afternoon when the NAIA's top-ranked tandem of Deni Zmak and Simon Felix bested Lynn's top-flight team of Vlad Cirla and Daniel Riggs 8-4. Tomas Porkop and Alessio Iannozzi leveled the team score by holding off Jaime Sanchez-Canamares Rios and Patrick Besch 9-7 at No. 2 doubles, but Miguel Lopez Gomez and Luke de Caires put the Eagles back on top with a 9-7 victory of their own over Roman Turtygin and Paolo Volpicelli on court three.

Singles play saw Riggs pull the Fighting Knights even once again with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Sanchez-Canamares at the No. 2 spot. Porkop managed to hold off Felix 7-6 (3), 6-3 on court three to give Lynn its first lead of the day, but the advantage was short-lived as Zmak made it 3-3 with his 7-6 (4) defeat of Cirla at the top spot.

The remaining singles matches all went Lynn's way as Ianozzi downed Besch 6-2, 6-1, Volpicelli topped Lopez Gomez 6-3, 6-2 and Turtygin downed de Caires 6-4, 6-2, giving the Fighting Knights the win.

The Eagles will play their third match in as many days on Sunday when they host NCAA I Toledo at 1 p.m. at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
