DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - 16th-ranked Embry-Riddle cruised to a 9-2 win over visiting Johnson (Fla.) on Tuesday evening at Sliwa Stadium, sending off eight Eagle seniors in their final scheduled regular season game of their careers. The Blue and Gold (34-17) recorded 13 hits while David Lidyard, Stetson Nelson and Ronnie Lozada combined to hold the Suns (3-29) to just two runs on seven hits en route to the victory.

The Eagles scored a run in the first, followed by three runs in the second and never looked back, securing the win with a four-run sixth. Liam Goodall and senior Jordan Johnson each had three hits while Darryl Knight, Hunter Bruehl and senior Kyle Chastain recorded a pair of hits apiece.

Lidyard got the start on senior night, scattering six hits and two runs (one earned) with five strikeouts in five innings of work before giving way to Nelson and Lozada who both pitched nearly perfect two innings each.

A couple of hit batters in the bottom of the second started the Eagle rally against Chase Hunt with Bruehl finished it off with a single to left center, scoring Jake Cavender for an early, 1-0 lead.

After Lidyard set down the Suns in order in the third, Knight tripled to right center, his fourth of the year, scoring both Jordan Johnson and Goodall after they recorded back-to-back, one-out singles. Kevin Lindheim brought in the fourth run of the game with an RBI groundout to short as courtesy runner Kyle Buchanan scored from third.

Lidyard allowed a run in the top of the fourth, but his team answered when Colt Hankamer flew out to right, driving in Chastain from third after Chastain singled, stole second and moved to third on a groundout.

The Suns plated their final run of the contest in the fifth, but Lidyard minimized the damage by stranding two runners on base to keep ERAU in front, 5-2.

Embry-Riddle broke the game open in the home half of the sixth, recording four runs and five hits while being helped by three Johnson errors. Chastain scored for the second time after a Bruehl single and throwing error before Goodall chased in a run and Jordan Johnson collected two RBIs with a single that plated both Goodall and Hankamer.

Nelson, who had entered in the sixth, went 1-2-3 in the seventh before Lozada tossed a perfect eighth and worked around a leadoff single in the ninth with two strikeouts and a line out to Hankamer at short to end the game.

The Eagles' next scheduled game is Friday, May 2 at 11 a.m. in The Sun Conference Tournament against the yet to be determined sixth seed. Live audio and live stats for all tournament contests will be provided at www.erauathletics.com/live.
