DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's track & field team will be sending nine athletes to the 2014 NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. on May 22-24 as the official list of qualifiers was announced Friday by the NAIA.
On the field senior
Reta Woodard is a heavy favorite to repeat as national champion in the hammer throw as the top seed. Woodard is also set to compete in the discus as the 15th seed.
On the track senior
Ellie Staker will lead the Eagles after qualifying in three events. Staker is the second seed in the 1500m race and the third seed in the 800m race. Staker will also team up with fellow 2014 Indoor All-Americans
Kandice Dixon,
Kristina Kendrick and
Marina LeVine as the 16th seed in the 4x400m relay.
Also on the track Kendrick is set to race in the 200m dash, while
Maite Moscoso a 2014 Indoor All-American is set to compete in the 5000m race walk.
Meanwhile,
Halle Green-Anderson will be the 19th seed in the 100m hurdles and the 15th seed in the long jump.
The Eagles' 4x100m relay squad of Green-Anderson, Kendrick,
Camaria Cannon, Dixon or
Shonte Miller are set to compete as the ninth seed.
The NAIA Outdoor National Championships will be held at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala. The meet gets underway on Thursday, May 22, the Eagles first event will be the 4x100m preliminaries at 2:30 p.m.
