Corey Tufts tossed seven innings for the Eagles in a 2-0 loss to Southeastern
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle Eagles had no answer for Andres Cancio for the second time in the 2014 season as the Southeastern right-hander threw a three-hit, 2-0 shutout of the Blue and Gold to propel the Fire to the title game of the 2014 Sun Conference Tournament at City of Palms Park. The Eagles (36-18) drop to the loser's bracket and will face the winner of St. Thomas and Webber International at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Southeastern (43-14) evened the season series at 2-2 with the win.

The only scoring happened in the third inning when Corey Tufts found himself in a jam with the bases loaded facing SEU catcher Aldo Ferrante. The Fire backstop collected a two-RBI single to center that score Aaron Sheaks and T.J. Glessner, the only support Cancio needed.

Cancio tossed four hitless innings before Lorenzo Boden broke up the no-hitter in the fifth, but Cancio quickly got a fantastic defensive play from his middle infield as the Fire turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.

Tufts stranded the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, but Cancio retired 12 consecutive Eagle batters to get to two outs in the ninth before Darryl Knight doubled off the wall in left to keep the game alive. Kevin Lindheim drew a walk before Kyle Chastain singled through the left side of the infield to put the tying run in scoring position, but Cancio got Jake Cavender to fly out to shallow center to end the game.

Cancio (10-1) threw nine innings, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts while Tufts (8-3) was the tough luck loser, allowing two runs on five hits over seven frame with 10 Ks.
