Click Here for the Tournament PairingsDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the seventh consecutive year, the E. William Crotty Tennis Complex will be the site of the Embry-Riddle Tennis Open. The three-day ERAU Open takes place Sept. 12-14 and will feature student-athletes representing Florida Southern, Rollins and Embry-Riddle on the men's side and Florida Southern, Rollins, Embry-Riddle and Bethune Cookman on the women's side.
The ERAU Open is the first competition of the 2014-15 season for the Embry-Riddle men's and women's teams. On the women's side, the Blue and Gold went undefeated in conference play at 7-0 on the way to The Sun Conference regular season and tournament titles. Seeded fifth in the NAIA National Tournament field, the Eagles registered upsets of three-time national champion Auburn Montgomery and top seed Xavier (La.) on the way to a spot in the title match where they were edged 5-4 by Georgia Gwinnett. Ranked second in the NAIA Postseason National Coaches' Poll, the Eagles ended the season at 18-6 overall.
Kristina Marova and
Hui-I Huang won the 2013 ITA/NAIA National Doubles title and went wire-to-wire as the top-ranked tandem in the nation.
The men's team held on to the top spot in the NAIA national rankings for the entire season. The Eagles also finished as national runner-up and closed out the 2014 campaign at 21-4 after wrapping up the program's 10th straight conference regular season and sixth conference tournament crowns.
Deni Zmak and
Simon Felix also captured an ITA/NAIA national doubles title and Zmak became the first student-athlete in program history to win the ITA/NAIA doubles and singles titles in the same season. As ITA Super Bowl champions, Zmak and Felix made headlines when they toppled the third-ranked doubles team from NCAA I UCLA at the ITA Division I National Indoor Championships. They duo spent the entire season at the top of the ITA/NAIA doubles poll, while Zmak topped the singles poll for the entire year.
