DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The ERAU Women's track and field team will head to Gainesville, Fla. on Friday to compete in the eighth annual Jimmy Carnes Invitational, the team's second meet of the 2015 indoor season.
The Eagles began their season last weekend as the squad hosted the ERAU Indoor/Outdoor Challenge. The meet was huge success for the Eagle women as eight qualifying standards were hit and three school records were set. Senior, and six-time All-American,
Ellie Staker was the highlight of the meet for the Blue and Gold as she hit two individual "A" standards in the mile and 1000m, and another as part od the 4x400m relay team along with
Kristen Metcalfe,
Kandice Dixon, and
Marina LeVine. Staker broke the school record in the mile by 31 seconds as she posted a time of 4:43.42, while
Kandice Dixon broke the Eagle record for the 60m dash with a "B" standard time of 7.75.
Two freshmen also had impressive collegiate debuts as Metcalfe achieved an "A" standard in the 600m with a time of 1:35.02 and
Stephanie Mueller won the high jump with an "A" standard and school record mark of 1.65.
Additionally, All-American
Maite Moscoso hit an "A" standard in the 3000m race walk and LeVine achieved a "B" standard mark in the 600m.
At last year's Jimmy Carnes Invitational, Staker won the mile race with an ERAU indoor record time of 4:57.67 and
Marina LeVine nearly hit a "B" standard time in the 800m with a time of 2:25.40 in her collegiate track debut.
