SCOUTING THE EAGLESEmbry-Riddle improved its conference record to 4-3 on Thursday with the second win of the week, a 72-57 Sun Conference win against Johnson & Wales. All 11 players that took the floor for the Eagles got into the scoring column, led by
Kalah Martin who finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
Taylor Cyphers led all players with 10 rebounds, while
Hannah Carine dished out a game-high four assists.
Lisa Nuxol-Wilson's team sits in fourth place in the conference standings and is 12-5 overall.
Cyphers and Jorge have gone back and forth as the Eagles' rebounding leaders throughout the season. Cyphers currently leads the Blue and Gold on the boards, averaging 7.9 rebounds per game, while Jorge averages 7.8 boards per contest. Jorge has moved back to the top of the Eagles' scoring charts with her 11.9 points-per-game average. She is followed closely by
Sabrina Whiting (11.6 ppg), Martin (11.2 ppg) and Cyphers (10.2 ppg). Martin is the Eagles' assist leader averaging 3.1 assists per game overall and 3.5 assists in conference play.
SCOUTING THE FIREGoing into Saturday's game, Southeastern is one spot ahead of ERAU in the conference standings with a 13-3 overall record and a 6-2 mark in league play. First-year head coach Jody Martinez is leading a Fire team that finished third in the league race with an 11-5 record in 2013-14.
Alyssa Ramos is leading the Fire in scoring (17.3), assists (2.2) and steals (0.84), while Cassidy Block is averaging 6.4 rebounds per game to lead the Fire on the boards. As a team, Southeastern is a threat from outside, ranking second nationally in total made three-pointers (244) and three-pointers made per game (12.8).
