DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Eliana Sheplee was recognized as one of the top five players in the South region by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association on Thursday afternoon when she was chosen to the All-Region First Team. The First Team All-SSC guard has received her third honor of the postseason after also being named to the SSC All-Tournament Team.
The redshirt freshman guard was named SSC Freshman of the Year and was the only underclassman to be included on the All-Region First Team. She led the SSC in scoring, averaging 21.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest, while shooting over 50 percent from the field.
The native of Rice Lake, Wisconsin freshman currently holds nine program records for ERAU women's basketball, breaking the single-game records for points (41), free throws made (17), and free throws attempted (17), while simultaneously breaking the single-season records for points (581), free throws made (121), free throws attempted (141), points per game (21.5), field goals made (219), and field goals attempted (437).
Throughout her first regular season wearing the Blue and Gold, Sheplee was named SSC Player of the Week on four occasions and earned an SSC Defensive Player of the Week honor in her first semester. On January 20, the transfer from Northern Iowa, was named NABC National Player of the Week following back-to-back doubles against Florida Southern and Tampa where she averaged 28 points in the pair of wins.
As a team, the Eagles will begin the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament on Friday, March 13, when they take on Eckerd in Huntsville, Alabama.
