BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The tenth-ranked Embry-Riddle women's track and field team had a very impressive showing on Friday and Saturday at the Samford Invitational as the team hit seven national qualifying standards.
Halle Green-Anderson posted three standards to lead the way for the Eagles. The Kingston, Jamaica native hit an "A" standard in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.91, and also hit an automatic qualifying standard the long jump with a mark of 5.54m. In the 60m dash, Green-Anderson achieved a "B" standard, posting a time of 7.82.
Ellie Staker dominated the competition in the 1000m, finishing first with an "A" standard and school record time of 2:44.08, which is the fastest time in the NAIA this season.
Marina LeVine hit a "B" standard in the same event with a time of 3:01.76.
Kristen Metcalfe posted an automatic qualifying time in the 400m with a personal best time of 57.28, finishing eighth out of 63 runners in the event. Metcalfe also set a personal record in the 200m, as did
Alana Bell; the two freshmen posted times of 26.44 and 26.73, respectively.
Fellow freshman
Daisha Brown hit a "B" standard in the triple jump with a distance of 11.10.
Junior
Martina Tafoya barely missed out on posting "B" standards in the 400m and 800 as she posted times of 59.73 and 2:22.08, respectively.
This weekend's Samford Invitational was the penultimate regular season indoor meet for Eagles. ERAU will have its final tune-up for the NAIA National Championships next weekend when the team hosts the ERAU Last Chance meet from Feb. 20-21.
