ERAU Cheerleaders to Compete at NCA Championships

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle cheerleading team will begin competition in the 2015 NCA/NDA Collegiate National Championship on Thursday morning. The Eagles qualified when their video submission was accepted by the National Cheerleaders Association. The NCA Championship will take place at Daytona Beach Band Shell, Hilton and Peabody Auditorium, April 8-12.

"The national qualification is a huge accomplishment for our program!" ERAU Head Coach Clay Owensby said. "Over the past four years, our program has made many changes and accomplished many goals, but qualifying for NCA nationals is especially gratifying for the athletes who have helped pave the way for this program's success! We are thankful to our alumni, support system members, ERAU athletic administration and current athletes for the part they have played in redefining the sport of cheerleading at Embry-Riddle. Now begins the era of a nationally recognized cheerleading program hungry for its first national championship crown."

The Embry-Riddle cheerleaders met the requirements outlined in the NCA's application package, while adhering to the ACCA Collegiate Cheerleading Safety Rules. Their video featured five separate segments, including stunts, tumbling, basket/sponge tosses, pyramids and game day performance.

The Eagles will be competing in the Intermediate Coed II division.
