DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle Director of Rowing and Head Women's Rowing Coach
Jamie Francis announced Kaya Treder as the program's first-ever signee on Tuesday.
"I am very excited to have Kaya join us as part of the first incoming class of varsity rowers at Embry-Riddle," Francis said. "She is exactly the type of person that I am looking for. She has a great energy and I expect her to be an integral part of the team."
Treder comes to Embry-Riddle from Hannover, Germany and will graduate from Viktoria-Luise-Gymnasium Hameln in 2017. Over the last two seasons, Treder has racked up numerous accolades, including gold in the Girls Double and silver in the Girls Coxed Quad and Girls Quad at the 2015 German National Sprint Championships. She won gold in the Girls Coxed Quad and Girls Single at the Hamburg International Regatta in 2015 and 2016, respectively, and took home back-to-back gold medals in the Girls Doubles in 2015 and 2016, as well gold in the 2015 Girls Quad and the 2016 Girls Single at the Niedersachsen Regional Championships.
Treder expects to major in Homeland Security at Embry-Riddle.
Embry-Riddle's first season of competition in women's rowing will be in 2017-18, which is expected to be ERAU's first season of full NCAA II membership.
