BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Embry-Riddle women's track and field team began the 2017-18 indoor season by competing in the Birmingham-Southern College Panther Indoor Icebreaker. The Eagles were dominant and won the event with a team score of 81.
In the field events, Merari Coronado finished in second and set an Embry-Riddle record in the shot put, posting a mark of 14.02m. Christiana Isenard finished in third with a mark of 12.82m and
Paige Bussard posted a personal best as finished sixth with a mark of 12.28m. Isenard and Bussard also surpassed the previous Embry-Riddle record as well.
Bussard set a personal best in the weight toss as well, finishing in first place after posting a mark of 15.56.
Christina Isenard posted personal best in the weight toss as she finished in third, posting a mark of 15.18m. Ukeyvia Beckwith came in second in the high jump as she soared 1.60m, coming within .02m of first place.
On the track,
Kristen Metcalfe came in first place in the 800m as she ran a 2:10.91. This would be a personal best for Metcalfe on an indoor track.
Marina LeVine came in second in the 800m with a time of 2:16.98.
The Eagles distance medley team of LeVine, Beckwith, Metcalfe, and
Alex Orr finished in first place with a time of 12:21.62. 14 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

"It was a great opening meet for us. It was exciting to see several people start this year where we finished last season. This is a great foundation for us to build our season on. We look forward to improving our marks when we come back here in January."
Embry-Riddle won't return to action until 2018 when the Eagles host the ERAU Indoor-Outdoor Challenge on January 20
th. The Challenge will take place at the ERAU Track Complex.
