HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The Embry-Riddle men's cross country made it a clean sweep of the 2018 regular season on Saturday morning with a first-place finish at the USCB Sand Shark Invitational. The Eagles put five runners in the top 23 overall to easily beat second-place Florida Southern and go 5-for-5 in team titles this year. Of the 113 teams the Blue and Gold raced against during the regular season, only six teams beat the Eagles, all NCAA I squads.
The Sand Shark Invitational, traditionally a very fast course, proved no different on Saturday as
Shaun Bullock ran a career-best 25:15.6 to lead the way for the Eagles, finishing fourth overall. Bullock's time makes him the 12th-fastest Eagle in program history.Â
Close behind Bullock were
Lelei Too (25:26.2) and
Calahan Warren (25:33.6) in sixth and seventh place, respectively. For Too, the race also marked a career-best time, putting him 15th-fastest in Eagle history.
Paul McKenna (26:19.4) finished 18th overall and
Paris Williams (26:29.8) placed 23rd to round out the Eagle scorers.
Brian Cheluget (38th - 26:55.1) and
Garrett Noltemeyer (44th - 27:07.6) acted as displacers for the Blue and Gold.Â
Also running for Embry-Riddle were
Justin Nauman (82nd - 27:54.9),
Adam Lawrence (84th - 28:03.6),
Drew Hart (87th - 28:06.4),
Bryce Cole (98th - 28:19.1) and
John Dennehy (136th - 29:04.9). Hart's time was the fastest of his collegiate career.
ERAU's total time of 2:09.05 was nearly two minutes faster than second-place Florida Southern's.
The Eagles will look to continue their team title streak when they open postseason competition on Nov. 3 for the Sunshine State Conference Championship. The Embry-Riddle Cross Country Course will be the site of the SSC Championship meet with Rollins serving as the host.
