DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 10th-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team earned a shutout in its first season as a full-fledged member of NCAA II, topping Southeastern 9-0 on Thursday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Eagles got their first point at No. 3 doubles where Lucas Lesoeur and
Deepak Vishavkarma topped Hugo Pires and Pedro Bahnuik 8-1.
Juan Ortiz Couder and Lucas Bos followed with an 8-2 win over Felipe Barbosa and Thomas Ortega at the second doubles spot, and
Rodolfo Arreygue and
Andres Donayre completed the doubles sweep by besting Lucca Marcheschi and Aaron Skingley 8-1.
The Eagles surrendered just nine games in all six singles matches combined. Donayre was first off the court after topping Ortega 6-1, 6-0 on court three and Bos recorded the clinching point with his 6-1, 6-0 win over Skingley at the fifth spot.
The Eagles are scheduled to take on fourth-ranked Valdosta State at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
