DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Georgetown University Head Softball Coach Pat Conlan has announced the hiring of former Embry-Riddle Assistant Coach
Monique White to the Hoya coaching staff. White will serve as an assistant coach at Georgetown.
White was selected by ERAU Head Coach
Kelsi Dunne to join the Eagle coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2014. In her four years at Embry-Riddle, White helped lead the Blue and Gold to a 119-71 record, including a program-record 35-win season in 2016. Under White's tutelage, the Eagles went 20-10 in conference play last year, finishing second in the Sunshine State Conference in the program's first season of full membership in the league.
Under White's guidance, the Eagles qualified for the NCAA II South 2 Region Tournament last year, which was the first year Embry-Riddle was eligible for NCAA II postseason play. In White's first season, the Blue and Gold advanced to the quarterfinal stage of The Sun Conference Championship, which was the final season that ERAU competed as a member of the NAIA and The Sun Conference.
Georgetown finished 17-35 last year, including an 8-12 mark in the Big East. The Hoyas' first official season of softball was in 2006, after previously recognizing the sport as a club team. In the program's 13 seasons of NCAA play, all under Conlan, Georgetown has posted 20-plus wins three times, including a program-best 26-22 mark in 2014.
