BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Kristen Metcalfe broke the school record and clocked an automatic qualifying time in the 800m to highlight the Embry-Riddle women's track and field team's performance on Sunday at the KMS Invitational.
Metcalfe proved to be the class of the field in the 800m, winning the race by more than 11 seconds and besting the previous meet record by nearly two full seconds. Her time of 2:06.91 also makes her an automatic qualifier for the NCAA II Indoor Championships later this season.
Ukeyvia Beckwith also had a solid showing on Sunday, clearing 1.65m in the high jump to tie the school record and finish third in the event. No other competitor was able to clear 1.70m, though Beckwith finished in third based on number of attempts at the earlier heights.
One other school record fell on Sunday as the
4x200m relay team finished fourth with a time of 1:47.14. The team of
Breona Butts,
Daisha Brown,
Tamara Chambers, and

4x200m relay.
In the long jump, Brown (5.51m) and
Emma Sorenson (4.89m) each set new personal bests, while
Josie Gray (10:35.78) and
