AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Embry-Riddle women's rowing team concluded their fall schedule at the Head of the South Regatta on Saturday, competing in five events during the day with a deep field that included several Division I schools, along with Division II and Sunshine State Conference institutions.
The Women's Freshman Novice 4+ boat of
Megan Byrne,
Isabel Castro,
Helena Schmidt,
Margaret Wathen and
Veronika Zdrazil notched a win over Jacksonville with a time of 20:09.9.
The Embry-Riddle Women's Championship 4+ boat of
Megan Byrne,
Bethany Thompson,
Sofia Lorenzini,
Gwendolyn Powell and
Kaya Treder picked up a fourth-place finish with a time of 19:03.4, 34 seconds behind fellow SSC school Florida Tech.
The Women's Club 4+ boat, crewed by
Margaret Pisacano,
Lauren Stollenwerk,
Tracey Loeffler,
Naomi Brooks and
Rachel Hemsworth recorded a second-place finish with a time of 19:36.9, which was just 23 seconds off the pace of event-winner Liberty.
The Women's Club 8+ boat of
Kathryn Chilelli,
Julianna Snider,
Alyssa Crystal,
Margaret Wathen,
Samantha Fank,
Sydney Link,
Mackenzie Cunningham,
Alina Gagliola and
Rylan Randolph placed sixth in that event with a time of 19:48.2.
The Women's Championship 8+ boat, crewed by
Maricarin Minnock,
Bethany Thompson,
Kaya Treder,
Gwendolyn Powell,
Helena Schmidt,
Sofia Lorenzini,
Becca McBride,
Isabel Castro and
Rachel Hemsworth carded a seventh-place finish with a time of 17:59.7 in that event.
Embry-Riddle will return to action March 7 at the Jacksonville Dual, hosted by Jacksonville University.
