DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Thirteen Embry-Riddle student-athletes across three sports were honored on Monday for their performances over the last week, earning recognition from both the Sunshine State Conference and the Peach Belt Conference.
Women's Track and Field
Two members of the Embry-Riddle women's track and field team earned Athlete of the Week honors, one from the PBC and one from the SSC.
Kailey Ludwig was named PBC Field Athlete of the Week following her school-record performance in the pole vault. She cleared 3.82m to win the event at the UCF Knights Invitational, a mark that also met the NCAA II provisional standard.
Taylor Roth earned SSC Distance Athlete of the Week honors after competing in the 1500m and 800m in Orlando. She ran an NCAA II provisional standard time of 2:11.25 in the 800m to place fifth and posted a time of 4:36.33 in the 1500m to finish sixth in the invitational section at the UCF Knights Invitational.
Men's Track and Field
Embry-Riddle men's track and field swept the Peach Belt Conference weekly honors while also earning recognition from the Sunshine State Conference.
Mason Briggs earned his second PBC honor of the season following another standout performance in the javelin. Briggs secured his second collegiate victory with a throw of 66.86m, a mark that ranks ninth in NCAA Division II and comfortably surpasses the provisional standard.
Luke Richardson was recognized by both the Peach Belt Conference and Sunshine State Conference after setting school records in two events in his outdoor debut. Richardson ran 20.96 in the 200m Friday night at the UCF Knights Invitational, the ninth-fastest time in Division II and a new Embry-Riddle program record. He followed with an even more impressive performance in the 100m, running 10.18 (+2.2) to break both the ERAU and PBC all-time records, while posting the third-fastest time in NCAA Division II this season.
Women's Rowing
The women's rowing team had their Varsity 8+ boat be named as the SSC Boat of the Week for the third time this season after they won their race at the Sarasota 2K with a time of 7:47.82. This is the third year in a row that the V8 has won their mid-season race at Nathan Benderson Park. Embry-Riddle finished more than eight seconds ahead of the next closest boat in a race that featured Florida Tech, Rollins, Florida, Nova Southeastern, and FSU.
