MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team picked up its third straight win on Wednesday, claiming a road victory against Florida Tech (5-10, 1-5) at the DeSoto Tennis Courts. The victory was also the 37th-ranked Eagles' third consecutive win in Sunshine State Conference play. They improved to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the league.
ERAU's doubles pairings surrendered just four games in three contests. Black Rohweder and Michael Faucher combined for a 6-1 win over Tijmon Louisy and Alexander Webb at the third spot to open the scoring.
Lucas Bos and
Andres Donayre downed Kleanthis Zisis Tego and Jamison Burch by the same score on court two, and
Alexis Guedy and
Andrej Omeragic sealed the doubles shutout with a 6-2 win over James Finnigan and JJ Clark at the top spot.
Singles play began with a win at the third spot for the Blue and Gold as Bos downed Burch 6-3, 6-0 to put the Eagles up 2-0. Omeragic followed with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Maciej Sobolewski on court four to make it 3-0, and the clinching point came at the second spot where Guedy bested Clark 6-3, 6-2.
Faucher was next off the court following his 6-4, 6-1 victory over Louisy, and Rohweder capped the Eagles' scoring with a three-set win, besting Webb 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
The Panthers got their only point of the day when Finnigan held off Donayre 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
The Eagles step away from conference play on Saturday when they travel to Altamonte Springs for a neutral site match against third-ranked Hawaii Pacific. Saturday's match will be played at Sanlando Park, home of the 2019 NCAA II Men's Tennis National Championships, and is scheduled for a noon start.
