Eagles Send Five Student-Athletes to NCAA II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Five student-athletes will represent the Embry-Riddle track & field teams in seven different events at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships next weekend. Kristen Metcalfe will represent the ERAU women in the 800m and 1500m, while Calahan Warren (800m, 1500m), Brodie Lubelski (shot put), Connor Guinn (decathlon) and Lonnie Marts (decathlon) will represent the men.
 
Metcalfe, who will be making her fourth NCAA II national championship appearance after competing at both the indoor and outdoor meets last year and the indoor meet earlier this year, is seeded seventh in the 1500m with a time of 4:25.56 and eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:08.15. At last year's outdoor national championships, Metcalfe placed third in both events.
 
Warren, who qualified for last year's outdoor national meet in the 1500m and this year's indoor national meet in the mile, will be seeded 17th in the 1500m (3:48.93) and 19th in the 800m (1:50.71). Warren placed ninth in the mile at this year's indoor national meet and was 16th in the in the 1500m at last year's outdoor national meet.
 
Lubelski, who was an All-American in the shot put at this year's indoor national meet, will make his outdoor national championship debut in the same event. The Peach Belt champion in the shot put will be seeded ninth with a mark of 18.26m.
 
Guinn and Marts will both be making their first appearances on the national stage competing in the decathlon. Guinn is seeded 13th with a season-best point total of 6846, while Marts is seeded 14th with a mark of 6815 points.
 
The 2019 NCAA II Outdoor Track & Field Championship will be held at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M University – Kingsville. The competition kicks off on Thursday, May 23, and wraps up on Saturday, May 25.
