VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Embry-Riddle men's track and field sent four athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Norfolk State University at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14. The weekend was highlighted by a superb runner-up finish in the triple jump by senior
Antonio Caito.
How It Happened:
- Derick Brown was the first to compete for the Eagles, toeing the line Friday in the 60m hurdles preliminary round. Brown finished 12th with a time of 8.03. His performance earned him Second Team All-American honors.
- Luke Richardson was the second and final Eagle to compete Friday for the Blue and Gold. After a slow start out of the blocks, he fought back to place sixth in the 60m prelims, securing his spot in Saturday's final. In the 200m, Richardson ran a blazing time good enough for third, but a lane infraction resulted in a disqualification.

- Caito found himself in a tight battle near the top of the leaderboard, leading after the opening round. He dropped to third in round three but rallied on his sixth and final attempt, leaping 15.82m to secure second place.
- Richardson was the final Eagle to compete Saturday, running 6.72 in the 60m final to place seventh and earn First Team All-American honors.
As a team, the Blue and Gold finished tied for 21st out of 52 teams that scored points.
